Personalised Digital Learning Programme (PDLP)
What is PDLP?
At MOE's Committee of Supply Debate in March 2020, MOE launched the National Digital Literacy Programme (NDLP) for schools and Institutes of Higher Learning to strengthen digital literacy among students in Singapore.
As part of the NDLP, the Personalised Digital Learning Programme (PDLP) was introduced for all secondary school students. Under this programme, every secondary school student will own a school-prescribed Personal Learning Device (PLD) to support their learning. At Dunearn Secondary School, the prescribed PLD is the Chromebook.
Digital Literacy and Cyber Wellness
We are committed to providing a safe and conducive learning environment for students using their PLDs. The school has put in place the following measures:
Classroom management and device use routines to ensure PLDs are used purposefully and appropriately during lessons.
Curriculum lesson designs that equip students with essential digital competencies, preparing them to navigate the digital world confidently and responsibly.
Device Management Application (DMA) installed on all PLDs to provide a safer digital environment for teaching and learning.
Students are also guided by the school's Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), which sets out clear guidelines on the appropriate use of educational technology resources. The AUP helps students develop good digital habits and use technology in a safe, ethical, and responsible manner.
Device Management Application (DMA)
All PLDs are installed with a Device Management Application (DMA), which helps create a safer online environment suited for teaching and learning. The DMA allows the school to manage device settings and restrict access to content that is not appropriate for educational use.
The DMA will be installed on the device during the device handover process, which takes place in school. When a student graduates or leaves the school, the DMA will be uninstalled from the device, and the student will retain full ownership of the Chromebook.
Purchasing a PLD
Students may purchase their Chromebook through the school. More information will be provided to new students posted or transferred to the school.
